Rhaphiolepis umbellata

A dense evergreen shrub with handsome, thick textured oval foliage in deep green, eventually reaching just over a metre tall. Slightly fragrant white flowers are borne in clusters at the ends of the shoots in June, followed by bronzy-black fruits. For a warm sunny position in well drained soil where it will be hardy in all but the worst of worst winters known.
