Myrtus communis subsp. tarentina

A natural dwarf variant of the common myrtle, native of the Mediterranean region. In this form the dark glossy green leaves are narrow and tiny and densely set on the twigs. Very free flowering, the branches are smothered in pink tinged white flowers in autumn, followed by white berries. Makes a small shrub for a sunny sheltered position. Very tolerant of maritime exposure.
