Araiostegia perdurans

An exquisitely beautiful fern, originally collected from the mountains of Taiwan. This has proved to be perfectly hardy near here in the Cotswold hills, even through the intense cold of Dec 2010. The triangular fronds are incredibly finely dissected and measure up to 35x30cm on 30cm stipes, all arising from a creeping rhizome densely covered in ginger scales.
