Syringa pinnatifolia

Try and catch out your most haughty botanical and horticultural friends with this one. A species of lilac from NC China with relatively short completely pinnate leaves. Small nodding panicles of scented white flowers in May. Makes a deciduous hardy shrub to about 2.5m tall, for sun or semi-shade.
