Cercis racemosa

One of the loveliest of all 'Judas trees' and remarkably distinct from the norm, though very rarely offered for sale. In this Chinese species the small pea flowers are a soft pink and, more importantly, are held in dangling racemes, unlike virtually all other species, in May. It forms a more upright and potentially larger tree than C. siliquastrum. Hardy and easy in full sun on most soils. True plants are very rarely available in trade!
