Chionochloa rubra

The 'Red tussock grass' of upland New Zealand. Bold erupting clumps of elegant thin foliage, mainly soft orange-brown with a tiny hint of purple in summer, turning more orangey in winter. Beige flowers arch just beyond the foliage in summer. A striking grass for full sun and well drained soil and an absolute favourite of mine. 1.2m x 1.5m wide at maturity.
