Corylopsis pauciflora

One of the smallest in the genus, this densely branched, deciduous, slender stemmed shrub slowly attains a maximum of 2m x 2m, though is most often seen much smaller. Early to flower, the bare branches are strung with stubby racemes of primrose-yellow, cowslip scented flowers in March. Happy in most soils excluding those of a chalky nature.
