A hardy deciduous shrub of large size and noble aspect, particularly upright in this form with radiating horizontal branches. The drooping spikes of white, golden centred flowers in June have been likened to lily-of-the-valley (without the scent), though I'm not sure why as they are a completely different size and shape! Mature plants have cinnamon coloured bark peeling off in smooth papery sheets. One of the finest of all Deutzias, from the mountain of Taiwan. For most soils in sun or semi-shade.
