Enkianthus deflexus

A large deciduous hardy shrub or small tree from the Himalaya into W China, famed for it's clusters of comparatively large, cream, pink-veined urn-shaped flowers in June (the largest in the genus) and attractive autumn leaf colour of yellow, orange or scarlet. Originating from high altitude near the Tibetan border of Arunachal Pradesh, NE India. Requiring lime-free soil.
