Hedychium aureum

Only recently introduced, this very rare dwarf species is only officially known from a few locations in NE India, though is actually a little more widespread in nature than is realised. Particularly small for a ginger lily, this reaches 55cm high with short terminal heads of warm-yellow, subtly fruity scented flowers in October and into November if no frost. Very different. Hardiness untested but probably tough if mulched for winter.
