Magnolia x loebneri ‘Swansong’
A new cultivar raised by Maurice Foster in Kent. Visually this is a typical white x loebneri, with flowers half way between Magnolia kobus and stellata, but it flowers when the others in this group are going over. A very useful feature which extends the season and helps to avoid late frost. A pretty large shrub or small tree, useful for small gardens and suited to most soil types, even thin chalk.
