Pteris nipponica

Sometimes known by its synonym, P. cretica var. albolineata, this very handsome fern is naturally variegated giving the slim, elegant pinnae a central silvery-white band. Forms a loose clump or patch of fronds to about 40cm high. Best in reasonably well drained soil and rather tolerant of a little dryness once established, this is best afforded a sheltered spot or a milder garden.
