Rheum alexandrae from Yunnan

As R. nobile is impossible to grow, this is the next best thing if you are wanting to grow one of these wonders of the Himalaya. Relatively sizable basal rosettes of thick-textured foliage and splendid and most distinctive upright summer inflorescences covered by large, palest cream-yellow, down-turned bracts that protect the flowers from the harshness of its native environs in high altitude SW China and Eastern Tibet. This collection originally from 3850m in Yunnan. Best in a sunny site in moist soil. Very hardy.
