Rosa laevigata

Derived from wild collected material from SW China, this vigorous climbing rose bears handsome glossy foliage composed of just three leaflets and large white very fragrant flowers, up to 10cm across in late May and June, followed by large bristly hips. Requiring a warm sheltered wall to thrive, this is not to be confused with 'Cooperi'/'Cooper's Burmese'. Known as the Cherokee rose in the Southern USA, where it has long been naturalised.
