The Giant Coneflower is an arresting species from Central Southern USA with large yellow flowers with prominent black cones in late-summer on tall, erect stems to 2m, over broad, brassica-like pale blue-grey foliage. Very different to your average squat yellow daisy. Airy and relatively transparent and superb with grasses. The seed heads provide food for birds in winter. Sunny site and moist or dry soil, it is not fussy, and therefore highly suited to SUDS plantings, if you know what they are. Very hardy.
