Sarmienta scandens (syn. repens)

A member of the Gesneriaceae family and native to the moist coastal forests of Chile. A small evergreen creeping perennial only 10cm tall by 50cm across, this often grows as an epiphyte in the wild. Small semi-succulent foliage and pitcher-shaped pendulous vermillion flowers in summer. For a sheltered well drained cool position or pot, this has some hardiness, though it's wise not to push the latter too far. A gem.

Pot size: 9cm
