Ugni candollei

Virtually unknown in cultivation, this is the true species. Possessing a much larger leaf than U. molinae, in a lighter green and with a light covering of hair. The beige stems are covered in a dense golden-brown pubescence and the attractive white bell-shaped flowers are borne in summer, followed by edible red to black fruit. Should be hardier than U. molinae.
