An elegant, graceful looking Elm from the Far East with a rounded head of branches, vigorous when young, but then slowing and only forming a medium-sized tree. The small, rich-green, glossy foliage gives a light and delicate texture. The bark can be attractively mottled in older specimens, flaking off in irregular patches to show grey-brown, grey and tawny-orange. Suitable for virtually any soil or site, this species is very resistant to Dutch Elm Disease, though is rarely seen or offered for sale.
