Anemanthele lessoniana ‘Scirocco’

A highly ornamental, easy grass from New Zealand, creating bushy, dense clumps of fine evergreen foliage, developing shades of orange, red and brown, late season and through winter, especially in this cultivar, which starts to show deep-orange tints as early as July. Incredibly fine, diffuse, red-brown flowerheads arch over the sides in summer. Height 1m x 2m wide at maturity. Sun or semi-shade. Normally perfectly hardy, even in cold valley frost pockets like here, but occasionally affected by an exceptionally bad winter.
