Araucaria angustifolia

A 'Monkey Puzzle' relative from cool highland areas of temperate Southern Brazil, which eventually develops a most unique and highly ornamental crown shape, different from A. araucana. This rarity has definite potential across large areas of the British Isles and Europe, surviving -15c in Germany and almost totally unscathed by the hellish December 2010 at Westonbirt arboretum, Glos! The first I offered of this many years ago are now developing well in various parts of the UK and reaching up to 7m tall and one of the biggest in the UK is thriving in rural Oxfordshire. Rare!
