Asarum nobilissimum ‘Deep Throat’

An, errr, seductively named selection of this giant evergreen Chinese species from Tony Avent, with huge glossy, thick textured, heart shaped foliage up to a whopping 28cm long, though usually a fraction smaller. Sinister flowers at ground level in mid to late spring are up to 10cm across and coloured black-purple with tiny yellow specs, with a bicoloured pink and deep-purple eye. Fully hardy, this requires humus rich soil in semi to full shade.
