Baptisia ‘Nachthemel’

One of the finest of the very dark flowered Baptisia, but unlike most of those, this is patent free and you are safe to re-propagate without being hauled off and publicly flogged. A big bold perennial making a sizable upright/rounded specimen in time, with a mass of vertical spires of very dark purple pea flowers in early/mid summer, even darker in tone than the famous 'Midnight Prairie Blue'. Handsome glaucous trifoliate foliage. For any reasonably drained soil in full sun. Makes a deep tap-root, so best left undisturbed.
