A new species, only described in 2023, from Luding Xian, Sichuan, China, forming a low growing evergreen mound of elegant, very slim leaves. The foliage is edged with short spines and the oldest leaves turn to orange and scarlet before falling. Clusters of small greeny-primrose flowers are seen in March. A very rare species that has been thriving in cultivation for a number of years in at least a couple of specialist collections. Hardy and easy on any ordinary soil in sun or semi-shade.
