This is genuine material of a superlative Himalayan species derived from seeds originally collected in the wild. Once known as B. ciliata f. ligulata, this also has splendid, very large, deciduous foliage, though in this case virtually hairless and glossy. Dense heads of white and pink flowers in early spring, just before the leaves emerge. In a totally different league to those old Bergenia you and I don't like. Height 40-50cm. Shade or sun. A great contrast to Hakonechloa, ferns, etc etc. Tough, tolerant and very hardy.
