Bischofia polycarpa

A great rarity in Western cultivation, this Euphorbia relative is just beginning to be know in one or two gardens here. A medium sized deciduous hardy tree from China, forming a rounded open crown, this may well just make small tree size here in the UK, due to lack of heat. The leaves bear three leaflets, emerging red-flushed and sometimes with with red veins and petioles; these leaflets hang somewhat pendulously, making for an attractive foliage plant. This has been found to endure at least -17c in the USA. For sun or semi-shade and most soils.
