Cercis orbiculata

A South Western species of Redbud with grey-green, fairly rounded foliage. A small tree to about 5m with upright and spreading branches covered with a mass of bicoloured bright-pink and almost white pea flowers in spring, before or as the foliage emerges. Very drought tolerant. Full sun and any reasonably drained soil. Hardy. Virtually unknown in the UK, this will benefit from a very sunny well drained position.
