Cornus x rutgersensis ‘Hyperion’

Bred in the USA for resistance to dogwood anthracnose and powdery mildew, 'Hyperion' forms a particularly vigorous small hardy deciduous tree bearing a mass of flowers in June, each with four broad white floral bracts, up to 10cm across in June. Growing to about 6m at maturity, with red fruit in autumn and potentially good fall foliage colours of yellow, orange and purple. Best in acid to neutral soil, though should tolerate more alkaline conditions if the soil is deep and fertile. C. (kousa K2 × C. florida ‘Sweetwater Red’) x kousa.
