Crinum campanulatum

A rare member of the genus, confined to the Eastern Cape of South Africa where it inhabits seasonally wet areas, with the lower half of the plant immersed in water for some weeks. Dormant for many months in the wild, in cultivation it will remain evergreen if protected in winter. Red-pink to white lily flowers in summer over narrow arching foliage. I have grown this perfectly in ordinary soil, watered in summer, for quite a few years now here in rural Gloucestershire, even through the very damaging cold of Dec 2022.
