Cunninghamia lanceolata

An exotic looking and unusual hardy Chinese conifer, making a medium sized conical tree with rich green, spiky looking foliage, white banded beneath, bearing some resemblance to a Monkey Puzzle when very young, but not when older. The bark is a rich red-brown and the rounded, textured cones are ornamental. Very hardy, but better looking with some shelter. For sun or even very dense shade.
