Dahlia tamaulipana F&M 312

A new species, discovered by Nick Macer in NE Mexico in 2005. Particularly exotic looking large glossy green compound foliage is a notable feature, together with sturdy, fluted, wind tolerant stems. Pale lilac-pink flowers with a distinct central yellow star, to 2.5m above the foliage in late autumn/winter. Fully hardy if well established to at least -14c, if mulched, though I haven't bothered for over a decade. This has made a large dense clump here over the last 14 years (2022). The finest species for foliage.
