Deutzia pulchra ETOT 66

A hardy deciduous shrub of large size and noble aspect, particularly upright/rounded in this form with radiating horizontal branches. The drooping spikes of white, golden centred flowers in June have been likened to lily-of-the-valley (without the scent), though I'm not sure why as they are a completely different size and shape! Mature plants have cinnamon coloured bark peeling off in smooth papery sheets, which can look fabulous with winter backlighting. One of the finest of all Deutzias, collected originally in Taiwan. For most soils in sun or semi-shade.
