Diospyros kaki ‘Cioccolatino’

A selected form of 'Kaki' or 'Sharon fruit' with delicious orange-red, rounded, large fruits. Best on a warm sunny wall in the UK to promote ripe fruit, but in itself a hardy small tree with handsome foliage assuming potentially superb autumn colour of red, orange and purple. The fruits can be enjoyed even before they are fully ripe; sweet in taste with very little astringency and are crisp like an apple, though become very sweet and soft when fully ripe. The name "Cioccolatino" means little chocolate, referring to the dark brown-tinted flesh in a fully ripe fruit.
