Epimedium ‘Simple Beauty’

Found originally by Darrell Probst in China, this is a simple leaved seedling of a normally three leaflet species that is new to science. The exceptionally glossy foliage is composed of leaves rather than leaflets, which individually can reach over 15cm long and over 6cm wide. The spine edged leaves emerge softly flushed with red in spring with the bright sulphur-yellow long-spurred flowers very soon rising above. Hardy; for a humus rich shaded position, not excessively dry.
