Eurybia (Aster) macrophylla

The Big Leaf Wood Aster (or lumberjack toilet paper) hails from the woodlands of North Eastern N. America, where it often forms a dense ground cover, spreading by rhizomes, bearing particularly large, impressive foliage for an aster. It's primarily used in gardens for ground cover and foliage effect in shade, where the basal foliage can be 10 to 20cm wide. Large heads of thin petalled white-violet daisies, attractive to butterflies, in August and September. Very hardy, for most soils in part to full shade. Height 90cm.
