Farfugium japonicum var. giganteum

One of the most visually arresting foliage plants for shade, this large leaved wild form of a Far Eastern evergreen makes big glossy, thick textured, deep-green, reniform (kidney-shaped) leaves to 30cm across; their edges turned down at maturity giving a very distinctive effect. Ideal for the exotic garden, it can also be used anywhere where bold foliage texture is required. Hardy to at least -5c, it may be hardier to brief spells below this and merely lose foliage. Best in dappled shade and ideal for coastal/city gardens.
