Gleditsia koraiensis

Rarely seen in cultivation, this hardy medium sized deciduous tree from the Far East has spreading branches adorned with attractive pinnate foliage. The seed pods are quite a feature, ripening Oct to Dec, hanging twisted and curling and containing an edible flesh around the seeds which is used medicinally. The trunk is formidably armed with branched thorns.
