Hedychium aff. ziroense ‘Sikkim Smile’

Found originally in Sikkim, this species most closely resembles the recently described H. ziroense, described from Arunachal Pradesh to the East, though differs in a few points. Clearly, more fieldwork is needed to properly understand the Hedychium from this end of the Himalaya. A spectacular plant, with fairly large heads of creamy-yellow flowers in late summer/autumn, with long protruding bright orange stamen.
