Lagerstroemia subcostata var. fauriei ‘Kiowa’

A large shrub to small tree from Southern Japan with highly attractive peeling bark in shades of cinnamon-brown and grey. A mass of pure white flowers are seen in late summer in Southern UK, with brilliant orange and red autumn colour. This flowers regularly in the Southern UK at least and will become more reliable further north with climate change. Drought tolerant and highly suited to a climate change future in the UK, especially in cities, though flowers beautifully at RHS Wisley for example and is worth growing for the bark alone.
