Lilium pardalinum subsp. vollmeri

A rare form of this hardy Californian and Oregonian species collected in the Siskiyou Mts. Very similar to the commonly grown form, with splendid turkscap flowers composed of reflexed deep-orange petals, yellow at the base and with heavy dark red-brown spotting. The long protruding downward pointing anthers are rust coloured. Whorls of narrow foliage up the slim stems. For sun or semi-shade and most humus-rich well drained soils, though chalk is unsuitable.
