Mahonia hartwegii
A magnificent species from Mexico, where it grows to 3m high. Still relatively new to cultivation in the UK and of exotic appearance, with leaves to 60cm and fragrant pale yellow and cream flowers in extraordinarily huge panicles 60 to 90cm long, seen over a long period in spring or other times of year. Proven hardy to USDA zone 7 in the USA.
