A rather distinct form of this rare Mexican species we found in Queretaro in 2004 growing to only 1m or so high on very dry rocky outcrops, the leaflets curling strongly at maturity to give a unique look. Related to M. pallida and like it relatively low growing with fairly short racemes of cream, yellow-centred flowers seen over a long period in spring or other times of year, followed by bloomy black fruit. This may get taller in cultivation here, possibly to 2m+. Hardy, for full sun or semi-shade and very drought tolerant.
