An exceptional foliage plant, raised as seed from a specimen of Mahonia sp. Og 96007 in the UK, this has clearly crossed with the equally rare M. leptodonta and errs toward the latter elegant beauty in foliage characters, though the inflorescences are improved. Up to 21 leaflets per leaf are closely placed on a purple-pink rachis, are finely toothed and have drawn out tips. Bright yellow flowers in terminal clusters in autumn. A medium to large evergreen shrub, at its best in semi-shade though tolerant. The mischievous Pan has often inspired new cultivar names here...
