Very bold grey-green, serrated edge pinnate foliage and softly hairy black-purple striped green flowers in tall heads on a plant to 2m tall. Possibly hardier than M. major. May be cut back by frost, but will grow vigorously from the base like a herbaceous perennial. For a warm sunny position.
