Mentha arvensis var. piperascens

Japanese Mint has a strong menthol flavour, very similar to peppermint and both leaves and flowers are edible; the leaves being used for 'peppermint' tea. A hardy herbaceous perennial to 60cm high, with rounded bright green leaves and whorls of pale lilac flowers in summer. Best kept potted if you are worried about spread, in sun or semi-shade.
