Paeonia ‘Claire de Lune’

A classic hybrid of considerable merit between P. lactiflora and P. mlokosewitschii, resulting in sweetly fragrant, cream 'single' blooms in May/June; each with a fat boss of rich, deep-yellow stamen at the centre, offering a certain 'fried egg' quality. These rather splendid blooms develop the faintest wash of palest-pink and are set off nicely by the dark-green, fulsome glossy foliage. One of the very finest peony hybrids, this holds an AGM from the RHS. Introduced by Wild & Son in 1954. Sun or part-shade. Height 70 cm
