Pellaea rotundifolia

The Button fern is endemic to New Zealand, making a small evergreen mound of arching fronds to 45cm long and with each frond composed of sometimes over 30 pairs of small shiny, dark-green, leathery pinnae. Generally not winter hardy in the UK this is suited to milder gardens only, or potted and grown in shaded conditions over summer and overwintered inside, where it makes a very good, tolerant houseplant. Water evenly though fairly sparingly, as this resents being over wet. Height approx' 30cm.
