Pinus ponderosa

Western Yellow Pine. A striking large tree usually forming a tall clear trunk with plates of cinnamon-orange-brown bark, black-brown between . Beautiful foliage with needles up to 25cm long radiating around and bunched at the ends of the shoots. I've seen this species growing wild, and looking fantastic, in the sage brush area of W Canada.
