A Mexican pine of great worth, very rarely seen in the UK. Closely related to P. montezumae, this species makes a fast growing small to medium sized tree here, forming a very handsome specimen, notable for its beautiful semi-drooping needles up to 25cm long. Some plants have proven hardy, in southern England at least, such as at Kew and Hillier arboretum, where the largest specimen in the UK can be found and has grown there since 1987. For sun and a position sheltered from cold NE winds.
