The Chian turpentine tree from the Mediterranean makes a highly drought tolerant small tree for full sun and well drained soil, where autumn colour of the pinnate foliage usually turns to a fine shade of muted red-orange. The trunk develops distinctly deeply fissured bark with age. Very successful at the Hillier arboretum, Wisley and Kew for example. At Glasnevin BG, Dublin, it has even made a medium sized tree, after multiple decades no doubt.
