Quercus affinis

An elegant vigorous species and a rarity in cultivation, but a great success in specialist collections of the UK where it is making a fast growing upright tree, clothed in narrow, toothed, shiny evergreen foliage. Endemic to the mountains of Eastern Mexico, this is a hardy medium sized tree to approx' 20m tall, best suited to neutral/acid soils with reasonable drainage. Trees in the UK can be found from Kew to the Cotswolds and even Shropshire. Heat and probably drought tolerant, this is a tree for the future in the UK. Very rarely available for sale.
